Direct Dispatching of Ambulances began in Fenton City

Fenton City 911 began direct dispatching STAT EMS ambulances on all EMS runs in the city Saturday August 28 says company officials.

"We have worked towards this goal since day one when appointed as Fenton City's EMS response service in late January of this year. It is our responsibility to ensure the constituents of Fenton receive not only accredited care but optimal response times in case of an emergency", says Joe Karlichek, Chief of Operations. Karlichek says their entire staff has worked very hard to ensure there are minimal issues.

Fenton 911 will contact the EMS crews directly via the 800 MHz radio and use the Automatic Vehicle Locator system, which STAT installed in the dispatch center, for all EMS runs in the city's. It is estimated that EMS response times will be reduced by 2-3 minutes and these are precious minutes when someone is suffering from a heart attack.  American Heart Association says irreversible brain death begins within 7 minutes when the heart stops.

STAT's response times in Fenton City are already better than the National Standard of 8 minutes 59 seconds for life threatening calls.  Karlichek says STAT's fractile response time is 7 minutes and 11 seconds but with direct dispatching the saving of just two minutes can have a positive impact on patient care and outcome survivability.

For more information on direct dispatching you can contact STAT Operations office at 810.238.7672.

STAT receives additional equipment for disaster trailer

STAT EMS received additional grant money through Region 3 and the Genesee County Medical Control Authority to add additional equipment and supplies needed in the event of a disaster.

STAT maintains a disaster trailer (MDRU) on site in downtown Flint and is poised to deploy it in the event of a disaster in Genesee County.

The MDRU is designed to provide all EMS services the critical supplies needed on scene and keep ambulances in service and maintain operational system integrity.
