Genesee County has a new resource to facilitate EMS providers needs in the event of a disaster or Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).

STAT EMS of Genesee County along with the Genesee County Medical Control Authority formed this unit dubbed Medical Disaster Resource Unit or MDRU.  The unit is equipped with multiple medical supplies such as backboards, bandages, trauma supplies, neck collars, additional scene lighting, and generators.  All of which were funded through grant money from Region 3 and the Genesee County Medical Control Authority.  STAT EMS purchased the trailer.  Fenton City Fire Department provided a generator, electrical cords, and lighting for night time deployment.

The MDRU is available 24 - 7 - 365 and is housed at STAT's main headquarters located at 520 West Third Street, Flint, MI.  In addition, STAT EMS has formed an internal MDRU Response Team.  Drivers training school was performed and routine disaster drills are held to ensure our response meets and exceeds the needs of 91.
